HELEN "LULU" GAINES
September 10, 1949 — May 29, 2017
Helen "LuLu" Gaines, 67, of Akron (formerly of Windham) passed away on May 29, 2017 with her devoted son by her side. She was born on September 10, 1949 in Windham, Ohio to John and Thora (Davis) Goss.
She was a hardworking woman and could out work any man. LuLu raised her family as a single mom and there was no job she wouldn't do to provide for her kids. She loved to dance and was the life of the party. LuLu enjoyed being outside swinging in her swing or throwing a "few" back surrounded by good friends. She never met a stranger! Our hearts are truly broken, our minds are full of memories but knowing you are at peace is our comfort.
LuLu will be dearly missed by her son, John (Christina) Ladd of Windham; daughter, Melissa Fritz of Rootstown; grandchildren, Nicole Lanham of Garrettsville, Nicholas Lanham of West Virginia, Sam Speicher and Kayla Ladd both of Windham; great grandson, Micheal Lanham of Garrettsville; brother, James "Butch" Goss of Indiana and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Gaines and siblings, Geraldine Goss, Betty Thompson and Linda Savage.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7:00 PM.
The family would like to thank the devoted staff of Wyant Woods Care Center, especially Karen and Andrew, for the love and compassion they showed her.
