WILLIAM J O'NEIL

William J. O’Neil, age 80, of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. Bill was born on January 13, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio to the late William & Helen O’Neil.

Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria K. O’Neil.

Bill was a retired engineer for Marathon Oil and Empaco. He was dedicated to volunteerism, community service and civic leadership. He was a life member of Optimist International. It was through his service he helped make communities and children’s futures brighter. Bill served on the local, state and national levels which included Governor of Ohio and International Vice President. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Post 202.

Bill is survived by his children, Terasa (John), Diane, Patricia (Dee), Dennis and Denice; his grandchildren, Daniel, Pamela (Brendon), Jessica, Isaac, Michael and Kaycee; three great grandchildren; and his second wife, Sharon Nohrer O’Neil.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 25, from 4 pm to 7 pm, and Saturday, May 26, from 8 am to 9 am at Carlson Funeral Home, 3477 Medina, Road, Medina, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 26, 9:30 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington Street, Medina. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery.
