Eunice W. Taylor

Eunice W. Taylor,  81, of Hiram, Ohio passed away Feb. 8, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna due to heart failure.  Born on June 9, 1930 in Berea, Ohio to Norbert and Vera (Spencer) Fountain, she and her family moved to the area in the 1940’s to raise and sell fresh produce and other goods at the local markets.  Eunice graduated from Windham High School and subsequently Bohecker’s Business College.  She then worked various office jobs in the area, and her favorite of these was at Paul’s Feed and Supply located in Garrettsville.  It was there that she met her husband, Ralph Taylor of  Hiram, whom she married in 1958 at Hiram Christian Church.  After two years of marriage, she had to quit her job to stay home and help on the family farm, where she helped with milking, hay, chickens and many other chores day after day.  Eunice enjoyed gardening, painting, reading, puzzles and being with her many friends and family members.  She loved drives to the lake and watching nature under a beautiful blue sky.

She is survived by her sister Thelma (Robert) Schwan and many nieces and nephews in her family: Dianna (David) Savick and Robert (Lisa) Schwan of Garrettsville, Jeffery Schwan and Dee Schwan, both of Georgia, Karen (Robert) Burrows of Freedom, Norbert (Beth) Lowder of Cuyahoga Falls, and William (Kathy) Lowder of Florida.   She is also survived by 14 great-nieces and nephews.  In Ralph’s family she had 11 nieces and 6 nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Taylor (2004), father Norbert Fountain (1959), mother Vera Fountain (1982),  sister Lela Lowder Ringler (2008) and brother Norbert (1935).  Memorial donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protection League at www.portageapl.org in honor of her many feline companions she had throughout her life.

Cremation has taken place.  A private burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hiram.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.  On-line condolences at www.carlsonfuneralhomes.com.
