Beckowitz (nee Emery), born in Cleveland and long time resident of Medina, Ohio, died in the early hours of September 4, 2011 in her home. Anne was a cheerleader and homecoming queen for Maple Heights High School and loved participating in dance competitions. She married her high school sweetheart, Joe Beckowitz, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy in 1943. They had a lasting, loving relationship of 62 years until his death in 2005. Anne’s highest priority was family and home, though she also found time and energy to establish and operate Boulder Bluff Antiques, selling her antiques and collectibles in local and regional shows from New York to California and as far south as Florida. Anne was also a Master Gardener who delighted in transforming her three-acre property into a pleasing array of blossoming gardens. She was a member of the Medina Herb Society and was involved in the gardening efforts at Falconskeep, an organization known for its heritage lilac collection. She is survived by her children; Joseph P. (Judy) Beckowitz II of Las Vegas, NV Bobbie Beckowitz-Tilton of Stow, OH, Carol Beckowitz of St. John, Virgin Islands, and Michael S. (Dawn) Beckowitz of Panama City Beach, FL; grandchildren, Matthew Beckowitz of Tallahassee, FL, Julie Brook Keller-Nave of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, James Aaron Beckowitz-Keller of Brooklyn, NY, Michael S. Beckowitz II of Panama City Beach, FL; and a great-grandchild Brandon Beckowitz of Tallahasse, FL. Step grandchildren include Kyle Underwood of Panama City Beach, FL, Matthew and Ryan Thaxton of Las Vegas, NV and step great-grandchild Damon L. Jones of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Stephan and Anna (Riha) Emery; husband Joseph P. Beckowitz; brother, Leonard Emery; and son, David Scott Beckowitz. As a long-time member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, Anne’s Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, September 9 at 1:00 pm at St. Francis Church, 606 E. Washington St, Medina, OH. Internment: St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Medina. Visiting hours: Thursday, September 8 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Carlson Funeral Home, 3477 Medina Road (corner of State Rt. 18 and River Styx Rd.) Medina. As Anne lived her last 15 years with Parkinson’s Disease, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J.
