CARL RICHARDS

March 22, 1951 - February 19, 2022

Carl John Richards, age 70, of Florida, passed away on February 19, 2022. After graduation from Akron University, Carl taught Physical Education, and coached football and basketball at Maple Heights City Schools for 7 years. He then went to Keystone Local Schools in Lagrange where he taught Science and later was in Administration, retiring in 2005. Carl loved to spend time with family and cherished the visits to Clearfield County, Pennsylvania where he was born, the youngest of 8 children. He spent mega hours over the years researching the ancestry of his family. Carl also loved to travel. Many vacations were spent traveling the US in a RV, camping and visiting historic landmarks, state and national parks. This included working at Yellowstone National Park in 2008, and volunteering in 2019 at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. He also served a term as Wagon Master in the local Florida Good Sam Everglades RV Chapter, setting up the monthly outings for the group. In recent years, as his health declined, Carl enjoyed swapping stories and memories of shared adventures with friends, while sharing a meal. Carl will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Rebecca; daughter Courtney; sister Carol Taskes; Brother in law, Fred Taskes; sister Eleanor Carciopollo, brother, William Richards; grandchildren, Charlotte Simon, Alexandra Simon, and son in law, Victor Simon. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Sarah Richards; daughter, Jessica; sisters, Betty Gallo, Dorothy Cotter, Martha Carciopollo, and brother Robert Richards . Please join the family for a Memorial Visitation for Carl on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd., (corner of River Styx and Route 18), Medina, Ohio. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
