COURTNEY TAYLOR FITZGERALD

March 1, 1987 — July 23, 2020

Courtney Taylor Fitzgerald, 33 of Chippewa Lake, passed away Thursday, July 23rd, 2020. She was born March 1st, 1987 in Cleveland, to Gregory J. and Helen (Kehoe) Fitzgerald. Courtney possessed a phenomenal tenacity, which she directed towards the well-being of all who were graced by her presence. As a child she excelled in athletics, including softball, and Taekwondo. She obtained an STNA certification from the Medina County Career Center. This would be the beginning of a lifelong dedication to medical service. In 2010 Courtney enlisted in The United States Army as a Combat Medic. There she would achieve many military accomplishments, including but not limited to the following.

- Driver Mechanic Badge

-Posthumous promotion to Seargeant First Class
Sergeant First Class Fitzgerald would also see two tours of duty Korea - 12 months (08/15/2014 - 08/14/2015), and Iraq - 6 months (03/24/2019 - 09/15/2019).
Courtney enjoyed spending time with her loving wife Savanna, and their two dogs Charlie, and Mellow. She was a proficient pit master, and loved to feed the neighborhood. A Proud American that celebrated our Nation's Independence with an arsenal of fireworks, and adult beverages. Often found with a smile on her face, and dip in her lip she was the first to instigate a wild night out with old and new friends alike. Every home project, personal challenge, and unexpected setback was met with an unparalleled determination.
Courtney is survived by her loving wife Savanna Fitzgerald; father Greg (Amy) Fitzgerald; sisters Heather Fitzgerald, Kelly (Michael) Bradway, Katie (Anthony West) Kmetz,Teresa McDonald, Samantha Fitzgerald; brothers Kevin (Gloria Cannon) Fitzgerald, and Tyler Cruise; nieces & nephews, and many other family members and friends. Courtney’s care has been entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. A visitation for Courtney will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 7th from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, and on Saturday, August 8th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Sergeant First Class Fitzgerald will be interred with military honors at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a limited number of mourners can attend the ceremonial burial. If you wish to pay your respects, please stand along Lake Road on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 1:20 PM to 1:45 PM. The motorcade will travel along the traditional 4th of July parade route, but will arrive from the opposite direction. Sergeant First Class Fitzgerald was on active duty at the time of her passing. We ask that you place your hand over your heart as the motorcade drives along Lake Road. American Flags are strongly encouraged.
