Photo: Obituary: Deacon James Schlund 74, entered into his Eternal Life surrounded by his girls on Monday, March 11, 2013. He was born on July 5, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Mary Margaret (nee Sofranko) Schlund who preceded him in death. Mr. Schlund served in the United States Marine Corps. Jim was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he served as Chaplain. He humbly served the Catholic Church as a Deacon for over 30 years. He also served as Spiritual Director for the Christ Renews His Parish Ministry at St. Francis Xavier Church which brought him great joy and fulfillment. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of over 50 years, Judith (nee DeCore). Jim was a loving father to Janette (Kevin) VanMeter, Justine (Douglas) Maag and Jennifer (David) Larsen, grandfather to Jackie, Kyle, Bobby, Drue, Jameson, Benjamin, Julia, Ryan and Jacob, great-grandfather to Gavin and Lyla. He will be missed by many family and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM, with Prayer Service at 7:45 at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx and Rt. 18) Medina, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church 606 East Washington Street Medina, Ohio at 10 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013. Bishop Richard Lennon officiating, Fr.Tony Sejba Homilist. (Please meet at the church). Inurnment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions are requested in Memory of Deacon Jim to St. Francis Xavier Church address is above.
