Darlene Belle Mortelette (Valentine) joined the angels in heaven on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the age of 63. She was born on March 15, 1958, and spent her childhood in Valley City, Ohio until meeting her devoted husband of 43 years, Jack Bage Mortelette, and raising their three children in Brunswick, Ohio.
Darlene was preceded in death by her loving parents, Paul and Dorothy Valentine of Valley City, her father-in-law, John "Jack" Mortelette, her brother-in-law, Jerry Frantz and her sister-in-law, Jean Fisher.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Mortelette; children, Jaclyn Bologna (Joe and grandson Joey) and twins Emily Kent (Josh) and John Mortelette; her sister, Linda Courie (Jimmy); her mother-in-law, Leah Mortelette; her sister-in-law, Lynn Frantz and her nieces and nephews, Amber Courie, Jill Frantz, Jeanne Becker (Dave), David Fisher (Terri), Ethan Fisher, Susan Fisher (Brandi) and her seven great nieces and nephews.
Darlene was a valued member of the Mapleside Farms team for 33 years. She loved working all the Fall festivals alongside her children, helping her friends and family bag their own apples and making thousands of caramel apple treats to delight the large crowds. One of her favorite spots on earth was the hill overlooking the orchard.
Darlene was an accomplished gardener. Her backyard was an oasis of magnificent color and whimsy. Those who saw her garden in person or through pictures, were awed by its beauty and marveled at her hard work to achieve such a masterpiece.
Darlene enjoyed many creative pursuits, making every holiday at her home warm and joyful. From intricately carved pumpkins to her old-fashioned tree with bubble lights, her special touches made lasting memories for her family and friends.
Please join Darlene's family in celebrating her life. Visitation will be held at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 south of route 303), Brunswick, Ohio 44212, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 12. Private family burial at Eastlawn Cemetery on Monday.
