DAVID L. JACKSON
June 10, 1939 — February 13, 2014
David L. Jackson, age 74, of Nova, Ohio, previously of Medina, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Dave was born in Grafton, Ohio on June 10, 1939 to Claude and Anna Jackson.
He attended Midview High School and later moved to Erhart with his family. Dave was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served during the Korean War. Dave loved to tell stories of his Army days to anyone who would listen; he was a member of Ashland VFW Post 1067. On March 20, 1976 he married the former Barbara Paul in Medina, Ohio where they raised their son Christopher. He was a good father and until Chris went to Junior High, he made sure he was there to walk him home from school every day.
Dave worked as a Laborer at Permold for a number of years, as well as Plastipak Packaging before retiring in 2003. Dave was an easygoing and social man, who never knew a stranger. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He loved to kid and joke around, but always told you what he thought, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. In his retirement he enjoyed his time socializing at the VFW and spending time at home with his dog Bandit.
He liked to collect shot glasses from all over the country. He would request them from anyone he knew that was going on a trip. He also enjoyed his model car and truck collection and loved anything to do with cars.
He is survived by his wife Barbara; son Chris (Sharon) Jackson; mother-in-law Irma Paul; brother-in-laws George (Rhonda), Joe (Linda) and Bill Paul; sister-in-laws Teresa (Danny) Foutty, Mildred (Steve) Johnson, Mary (Dennis) Paul and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be deeply missed by his dog Bandit.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Penelope Jackson.
The family will receive friends for Visitation on Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 1 to 4 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of River Styx and Rt.18), Medina,Ohio 44256. Funeral Service will follow at 4 PM also at the funeral home. Dr. Michael E. Carlson officiating. Burial will be on Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10:30 AM in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Road Rittman, Ohio 44270 (Please meet at the cemetery entrance 15 minutes prior at 10:15 AM).
