DOUGLAS C. SWEET

Douglas Carlton Sweet, Jr., son of Frances A. Sweet (née Blood)and Douglas C. Sweet, Sr., was born on April 11, 1934 in Ashtabula, Ohio. Doug was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, at the age of 86, on December 13, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Antonia Sweet (née Lozier) who he was blessed to share 64 years of marriage. Doug is lovingly remembered by his children; Susan Muetzel (Donald) of Albion, PA, Douglas Sweet, III (Shuvawn) of Seattle, WA, Michael Sweet (Susan) of Medina, OH and Laura Kotalac (Russel) of Medina, OH; Grandchildren Jennifer (Matt), Ann, Austin (Michelle), Amelia (Colin), Olivia, Matthew, Karis, Katie and Beck; and great-grandchildren Susan, Sophia, Adelaide, and Lily; and many beloved friends.
Doug graduated from Edgewood High School in Ashtabula, Ohio in 1952, where he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. He enlisted in the Navy, serving on the ammunition's ship the Vesuvius during the Korean War and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Doug was honorably discharged in 1960.
He loved golf and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians. Doug loved Jesus, and, had long conversations with his Lord and Savior through all times. He was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church where he served as a prayer warrior until God called him home.
A small private Funeral service is scheduled at Holy Spirit Anglican Church, 1446 S Main St., Akron, OH 44301 on December 29, 2020. The family’s long time friend and pastor, Reverend Scott Sauders, will officiate. Internment at Edgewood Cemetery, 4011 State Rd, Ashtabula, Ohio 44004 following the funeral on December 29, 2020, Father James Kennelley officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services 3477 Medina Road (corner of Rte 18 & River Styx Rd.) Medina, OH 44256.
