ELIZABETH "BETTY" STUART NICCOLLS GETTY

Betty Niccolls Getty, a resident of Copeland Oaks retirement community in Sebring Ohio, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Born February 24, 1931, to the late Rev. Marion Francis and Mildred Gibbons Stuart in Setauket NY. She is survived by a sister, Carolyn Lichtenstein of St. Louis MO.
In Mrs. Niccolls’ early years she lived in Brookfield MO, Galesburg IL, St. Paul MO and Kirkwood MO where she met her husband, Rev. Thomas Niccolls. They were married in 1951 and enjoyed 58 years of marriage having first lived in Louisville KY, then Petersburg IN, Athens OH and Hiram OH. Rev. and Mrs. Niccolls treasured their children John Stuart Niccolls (Connie) of Leesburg VA, Martha (Barry) Wittine of Parma Hts, Philip Niccolls of Round Hill VA, Nancy (Ted) Clark of Bellevue OH and their grandchildren: Beth Marvin, Katie Wittine, Adam Clark and Miguel Clark, and great-granddaughters, Avryana Fernandez-Clark, Cassandra Marvin and newly born great-grandson, Samuel Marvin.
Mrs. Niccolls was educated at Park College in Parkville MO and graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Psychology. She loved life and was active in a large variety of interests. She was a girl scout leader, sang in church choirs, organized and directed children’s choirs, taught piano, directed bell choirs, worked for WIC testing children’s hearing, and started gardens wherever she lived. Mrs. Niccolls organized a recycling system for Copeland Oaks and designed and cared for a 120’x12’ garden outside the Assisted Living building at Copeland.
In 2013 Mrs. Niccolls married Dr. Paul Getty, a surgeon, musician, and instructor of unicycling and juggling who survives her.
A memorial service will be held at the Copeland Oaks Chapel in Sebring Ohio on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. Interment of ashes will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Hiram Ohio at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Hiram Christian Church, PO Box 937, Hiram OH 44234 or Copeland Oaks Life Care Fund, 800 South 15th, Sebring OH 44672.
