ELSIE M. DEAN

August 3, 1937 - May 9, 2022

Elsie M. Dean, 84, formerly of Ravenna, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022. She was born August 3, 1937, in Clay, West Virginia, to the late Estle (Pete) and Lola (nee Shamblin) West. She was the mother of five children, and she loved being a mother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elsie loved to cook; chili was one of her specialties. She enjoyed playing the lottery with her brother and sister. Elsie never learned to drive, so road trips were one of her favorite things to do. She considered a ride to the thrift store and stopping at Long John Silver's or the Fun Buffet on the way home as a treat. Elsie had a long career as a custodial worker at Robinson Memorial Hospital. She was very kind-hearted; everyone that knew her loved her. Elsie will be deeply missed by her sons, Larry Dean of Shalersville, Ohio, and Ronald Dean of Mobile, Alabama; siblings, Ernest (Carol) West, of Ripley, West Virginia, Orville (Bobbie) West, of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Doris Jean (Harold) Maur of Freedom Township, Ohio; sister-in-law, Teddy West, of Garrettsville, Ohio, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Dean; children, Richard Dean, James Dean, and Donna Brannon, as well as siblings, Ermal West, Lee West, Eldon West, and Ines Dobbins. Elsie will be laid to rest by her beloved family on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., at Grandview Cemetery, 5400 Lakewood Rd., Ravenna, Ohio, 44266. Services for Elsie were entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH, 44231.
