Ethel M. (nee Sharrow) Phillips, 96 of Middleburg Heights, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Parkside Villas. She was born May 3, 1914 in Monnessen, Pennsylvania to Frank Earl and Jennie (nee Blackburn) Sharrow.
She was a longtime resident of Olmsted Fall, Ohio. She was a member of The Eastern Star, a member of TOPS in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, and an avid painter, gardener, she loved music, was an avid Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy fan, enjoyed weekly shopping and lunches with her dear friend Betty, loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling to Florida.
She is survived by her sons; James (Darla) Phillips of Valley City, Ohio and Herbert F. (Susan) Phillips of Rotonda, Florida, her sister Lois Hagan of Brook Park, Ohio, grandchildren; Erin (David) DiPerna of Medina, Ohio, Amy (Edward) Navratil of Strongsville, Ohio, James (Xanthe) Phillips of Medina, Ohio, Matthew Phillips of Cleveland, Ohio, Emily (Todd) Benni of Boca Raton, Florida and Daniel Phillips of Rotonda, Florida; and great-grandchildren, Ryne, Vinny, Zak, Michael and Mia DiPerna, Kayla, Mackenzie and Maddie Navratil, Evan, Austin and Olivia Phillips and Dominic Benni.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Herbert F. Phillips; daughter, Patricia (Dudley) Smith; brothers; Earl Sharrow and Robert (June) Sharrow; sister Nelda SanJule, brother-in-law James Hagan and great-granddaughter Celeste Diperna.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, July 29, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with Eastern Star Services at 6:30 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Graveside services to be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Old Chestnut Grove Cemetery, 7789 Lewis Road, Olmsted Falls, Ohio.
