George F. O'Brien, age 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. He was born on May 19, 1944, to the late William and Catherine (nee Cooper) O'Brien in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated in 1962 from Holy Name. George worked for the Plain Dealer straight out of high school, retiring after 26 years with a medical retirement. He enjoyed his private home life. George will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ann; siblings, William, John, Joseph, Patrick, Mary, Margaret, Catherine, Michael, and Paul; brothers-in-law; Michael, Richard, Robert, and James; sisters-in-laws, Lynne and Lisa; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Dave Hotchkiss and Billy Wagner. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his son, James; and brothers, Dennis and Thomas. Per George's wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. The O'Brien family has entrusted George's care to Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Brunswick.
