HARVEY AUSTIN

April 8, 1927 — May 7, 2010

Harvey Austin, 83 of Brunswick passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Southwest General Health Care Center. He was born April 8, 1927 in Newton, Catawba County, North Carolina to Arthur Leroy and Florence Mae (nee Mullinax) Austin and was a United States Navy veteran of WWII serving as First Gunners Mate.

He was a pipefitter for General Motors for 39 ½ years retiring in 1993. He was a member of the VFW Brunswick Post 9520, American Legion 234 in Davenport, and U.A.W. Local #1005; worked for Elm farm in milk delivery and Fisher Fazio. Harvey enjoyed vegetable gardening, his Indians team, fishing, and spending time with his family. He volunteered at the Brunswick VFW doing canteen work.

Mr. Austin is survived by his wife Jewel (nee Drum) Austin; children Randy (Linda) of Brunswick, Kathy (Gary) Lang of Brunswick, Patti (David) Carter of Litchfield, Jodie (David) Wohlfeil of Lakewood, and Dawn (Kenneth) Fischer of Brunswick; grandchildren Michael (Kristy) Austin of Brunswick, Connie (Daniel) Miller of North Royalton, Greg Austin and Jared Lang of Brunswick, Adam (Jamie) Carter of Chippewa Lake, Christopher (Deanna) Carter of Wadsworth, Taylor Wohlfeil of Lakewood, Michelle (Clinton Stinnett) Fischer of Brunswick, and Matthew (Brandy Shanko) Fischer of Brunswick; and great-grandchildren Ashlee and Chase Austin, Danielle and Rebecca Miller, Gage Carter, Mason Stinnett, and Julian and Darian Fischer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Fred, Paul, Felix, Woodrow, and Bill Austin; and sisters Evelyn Austin and Mildred McDaniel.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Monday, May 10, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memory Gardens.
