Helen L. Volk, age 91 1/2, of Brunswick, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was born on September 2, 1929 in Windber, PA to the late Andrew and Anna Madey.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, John J. Volk, who died March 28, 2014. Helen is survived by her loving children, Joseph, Carole (Howard), Diane, Irene (Brian), and Susan; her cherished grandchildren, Juilet (Darryl), Natalie (Jess), Amanda (Phillip), Jenna (Keith), Amy (Mark), Joe (Suzanne), Megan (Matt), Kimberlee, Tim (Meagan), Benjamin (Lauren), Collin (Alyson), Jordan (Rachel); and her 23 adored great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Stella and Theresa and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great-grandson, Jack and her siblings, Joseph Reznik, Kathryn Barwatt, Mary Madey, John, Peter, Joseph, Stanley, Anne, and Clare Madey.
Helen played the saxophone and founded The Red Hearts Band in Windber, PA along with her sister, Clare and best friend, Louise. John and Helen were also founding members of St. Colette Catholic Parish.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Friday, April 16, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Atrium at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 W. 130th St., Brunswick, OH followed by Helen's Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. William Krizner officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
