JAMES POWER

July 11, 1939 — December 26, 2020

James A Power, age 81, our beloved Brother and Uncle passed away on December 26, 2020 at his home in Medina. Jim was born on July 11,1939 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late John and Valeria Power.

He was a proud Irishman, a Veteran and a proud graduate of the University of Michigan, but it was teaching that was his passion. Jim was an Educator for 40+ years in the Catholic school system in Philadelphia. He taught at St. Rita's, St. Charles and St. Benedicts. To his students he was "Mr. Power", to his Mom he was "Jimmy" and to the rest of us he was "Jim". He was generous to a fault and when he loved you, you knew it.
The two places that Jim loved the most was Ocean City, NJ and Ireland. The vacations to the shore were just the best and in 2007 our family was lucky enough to go to Ireland. We all still talk about what a great time we had, laughing, eating, telling stories and of course kissing the Blarney Stone. Each night we would raise a glass or two in honor of our ancestors.

Jim leaves behind his dear siblings: Valeria (Larry) Starcher, Lois (Larry) Bub and George (Jane) Power. Jim was an Uncle, Great Uncle and a Great Great Uncle to many nieces and nephews of all ages. All of his family and friends will miss him dearly.

Memorial donations may be made in James's name to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html and as you finish reading this please raise a glass to the heavens for Jim!

Services for James have been entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, Ohio 44256
