Jean Ellen Tassone, 96, of Middlefield, formerly of Southington, joined her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, June 1, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 7, 1926 in Brownsville, PA to the late Thomas and Lena (Kepnick) Chew.
She was a member of The Church of the Madonna in Cardale, PA, the Christian Mothers Club, a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville and the Italian American Lodge in Brownsville, PA. Jean enjoyed bingo, scrabble, playing rummy, sharing her Faith, and Hallmark movies. But her most precious time, was spent with her beloved family. She worked at the Lincoln Bakery in Brownsville, where she met her husband Raymond Tassone with whom she was blessed to share 44 years of marriage. Together they were blessed with two children, Charlotte and Raymond. Jean also worked at the Cardale school as a teacher’s aide for 17 years, when she moved to Ohio she managed four apartment buildings in Bedford. In 2005 Jean moved to the Garrett House, where she lived for the next 11 years before joining Mark & Charlotte in their home.
Jean will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Mark Gravatt; grandchildren, Matthew (Megan) Gravatt, Kelly (Keith) Semrau: great grandchildren, Wyatt, Emmett, Hannah, Maxwell, Addison and Avery; sister, Emma Kovachick; niece Jacqueline Gulbin and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond; son, Raymond; siblings, Jane Gossett (her twin sister), Willard and Thomas Chew; many nieces and nephews and her favorite dog Buddy.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ohman Family Living at Briar Hill for the wonderful care they gave Jean.
Care for Jean was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Garrettsville, Ohio.
