Joe Galvin, age 81, went to be with our Lord on December 31, 2013. Joe was raised in New Stanton, Pennsylvania by his family Bridget and Patrick Galvin.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hike, camp, hunt, fish, boat, ski and take rides all over the county with his family and friends. He would often tramp the woods, fields and streams finding wild mushrooms, nuts, berries, plants and herbs. He loved nature, animals and people. He had a simple philosophy of life, he always said “If you take care of the land, it will take care of you;” and “There are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet”.
He will be dearly missed by his loving daughters JoAnn Galvin and Jean (Charles) McKinley; grandchildren Tammy (Marc) Mellinger and Chrissy (Dustin Blake) McKinley; great grandchildren, Talon, Kenedy, Kylie and Mykelti; many nieces and nephews; members of the Galvin, Ashbaugh and Detore families; special friends Ralph and Shirley Halblaub.
He was preceded in death by his ex wife Jo Galvin. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile south of route 303), Brunswick, Ohio 44212.
