KAY E. GAISHAUSER
October 16, 1958 — February 16, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother/wife/daughter/sister/friend, Kay Elizabeth Gaishauser (nee Sigsworth). Kay passed peacefully in the early hours of February 16, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital after a 2-year battle with cancer. She fought with grace, courage, and dignity. We could not be prouder of her ability to make even the toughest days look easy.
Kay was born to Tom and Marj (nee Gaede) Sigsworth at Elyria Memorial Hospital in 1958 and graduated a year early with honors from North Ridgeville High School in 1976. She continued her education at Adrian College in Michigan, and later at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, where she studied graphic design for a while but ultimately found her passion in nursing. Although she called Ohio home, she loved spending time at her cottages on Lake Muskoka with her family and life-long Canadian friends, Cris and Brian Maund.
Kay was the kind of woman that did anything she set her mind to – she worked at a successful printing company for several years, ran her husband’s dental office, and was a licensed nurse, dental hygienist, and accomplished pilot. We will deeply miss her brilliance, selflessness, quick wit, and sense of humor.
There are not enough words to convey the deep sorrow of our loss, but we know that her legacy will be carried on with strength, grace, and kindness towards others.
She is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Dr. Dennis (DDS); her proud parents; three daughters who adore her, Rachel, Korina, and Erin; the best four brothers anyone could ask for, Jeff (Karen), Robert (Cheryl), Paul (Kathleen), and Scott (Tammy); and innumerable nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends may join the family for a Celebration of Kay's Life on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kay’s name to Assistance in Healthcare, Inc. ( https://zion.aih.org/ ) to help offset the financial burden for those receiving treatment, so that they can focus on fighting their battle.
