Lawrence "Larry" Quincy Dean

Lawrence “Larry” Quincy Dean passed away on November 9, 2012 at Buffalo General Hospital, Buffalo, NY. He was born on March 19, 1927 in Exchange, W.Va to Henry Frank Dean and Mary Lula Blake Dean. Larry lived in Freedom for 37 years where he raised his family. He then moved to Washington State and then to Buffalo, New York where he lived for 15 years. He was father to Candice (Doug) Edwards of Maryland, Cheryl (Russell) Dray of Tennessee, Larry Allen (Tracy) of Ohio, Peggy (Fred) Oakes of W.Va, Dawn (Wes) Laster of Maryland and Kevin Dean. He also has 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind three sisters, Zelma “Zeke” Mingo of Burton, Betty Jane Cochennette of Washington State, Loreda “Sug” Gough of Garrettsville; sisters-in-law, Opaline Prince and Lee Ann Dean, both of Garrettsville. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Hermit Earl “Hump”, Holace George and Fonza Vance. Larry was a World War II Veteran, honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He worked in construction as a skilled master diesel mechanic. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner of the Masonic Lodge. In his early years he enjoyed roller skating, square dancing and working on cars at the “apple tree garage”. He had a great respect for guns, owning many and was an avid hunter. Masonic service will be Friday, November 16, at 7:00 P.M. at the Garrettsville Masonic Lodge #246, 8128 Main St. 2nd Floor, Garrettsville, OH 44231. Graveside services will be on Saturday, November 17, at 11:00 A.M. at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville with full military honors. Please plan to meet at the cemetery.
