Leon Cooper, 92 of Newton Falls, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014. He was born May 13, 1921 in Garrettsville, Ohio.
After graduating from high school, he served in; the United States Air Force. Leon was a teacher in West Virginia. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and was past commander of the Follansbee, WV post. The family are the original Cooper’s from Garrettsville.
He is survived by his children, Sheila Liezert of Twinsburg, Sharon (Robert) Swain of WV, Patricia (David) Michael of Lake Milton, Pam Jenkins of Windham, Paul (Pat) Cooper of WV, Donnie (Bonnie) Cooper of Newton Falls and Joy Ramsell of Windham; sisters, Grace Blair and Jean Doraski both of Garrettsville and brother, Carl (Beverly) Cooper of Canfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous siblings.
Calling hours and funeral services were held at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Burial was at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville with full military honors.
