AIKEN, SC – LEONARD A. PALGUTA, 80, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 26, 2016.
A native of Cleveland, OH, Leonard was the son of the late John and Agnes Bravis Palguta.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a graduate of Benedictine High School and Cleveland State University. A giving soul, Len was a dedicated member of the Marine Corps League and the Military Order of the Devil Dogs; he was very proud of the charitable work these organizations performed. Leonard was a devoted volunteer at the Charlie Norwood VA Hospital in Augusta, Georgia and an active member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Leonard’s working career took him to many companies in Northeast Ohio and Detroit, the last two being C&C Products and State Chemical.
Before retiring to South Carolina, Leonard spent 24 years coaching the Red Sox in the Brunswick Youth Sports baseball league. His teams went to the World Series 12 times and won 9 championships. In 1996, he was inducted into the Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame.
He was the beloved husband of Rebecca (Kalista), father of Kenneth Palguta (Lori), Paul Palguta (Deborah), Susan Arz, Steven Horner, and Christy Bryant (Scott). Grandfather of Ricky Palguta, Ryan Arz, Sam Bryant, Cooper Bryant, and Colton Bryant. Brother-in-law of Jane Ferko (George). Uncle to many nieces and nephews.
