RAYMOND FENNER

December 29, 1925 — March 11, 2017

Raymond Fenner, age 91, of Brunswick, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017. He was born December 29, 1925 in Cleveland to the late John and Emily (nee Malle) Fenner.

Ray was a World War II Veteran who served in the U. S. Army with distinction. He was awarded both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his exemplary service. After the war, he met the love of his life, Mary Czpa. They were married in 1948 in Cleveland. Ray retired from the Sears & Roebuck Co. in 1988 after 45 years of an outstanding career in sales and management. He was a member of the Brunswick VFW Post 9520. Ray was a great handyman, who was always fixing things around the house, and he was an avid bowler.

Raymond was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and neighbor. He had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed by many.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Ray (Linda), Patricia (Richard) Leino; brother, Donald (Marge); sisters, Joan Morawski, Carol (Clem) Nesnadey; brother-in-law, John Capp; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Christopher) Domm, Allison (Kyle) Stalpes, Collin (Cassie) Leino; great grandchildren, Madeleine, Christian, Ella, and Thea; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary (nee Czpa); his parents; sisters, Dorothy Solly, Lois Ponikvar, Arline Overmoyer; brothers, Glenn, John “Jack”, Robert, and twin infant brothers; brother-in-law, Joseph Morawski; and his wife’s four siblings.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and professional staff at Willowood Care Center, Cleveland Clinic Hospice, and Comfort Keepers.

Friends may join the family for visitation Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 10 until 11 am at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A Funeral Service will follow at 11 am, with Pastor Thomas Shaw officiating. A luncheon will follow, after the 11 am Service at Carlson’s. Interment will be at 2:30 pm at Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Raymond to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Charitable Service Trust, 3725 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076 or a Hospice of your choice.
