RICHARD A. MCCOY
October 15, 1925 — June 17, 2011
Richard A. McCoy, 85, of Windham, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was born October 15, 1925 in Mantua, Ohio to Charles A. and Hazel (Springer) McCoy.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII. He was a member of the Painter’s Union Local 493 and the Windham American Legion Post #674. He loved “the track and slots” and sports, especially watching his grandchildren play. His family was his biggest love of all!
He is survived by his best friend, Audrey Roth of Windham; sons, Gary (Diane) McCoy of North Carolina; Michael (Cathy) McCoy of Louisville and Mark (Cheryl) McCoy of Ravenna; daughters, Roberta Friedt of Niles, Patricia Larkins of Warren, Barbara Jean Daugherty of Windham, Valarie (Leonard) Shankle of Louisville, and Joyce (James) Kolesar of Freedom; brother, James (Dorothy) of Cambridge; sister, Betty Gonczy of Mantua; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Alice (the mother of his children) and Irene; brother, Harlan; and sister, Virginia Simpson.
Calling hours are 4 to 8 PM on Monday, June 20, 2011 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Funeral services will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Darrin officiating. Burial will follow at Windham Township Cemetery with full military honors.
