ROBERT T. CHARVAT

Robert T. Charvat, age 83, of Medina, passed away on September 5, 2018. He was born on July 20, 1935 in Lakewood, OH, to the late Ralph and Hazel (nee Oldendorf).
Robert enjoyed all things sports related, especially his Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavs. He enjoyed the outdoors, but mostly loved to golf and fish. He was a beloved Papa to grandchildren Joe (12), Charlie (8), Mia (6), Rylee (3), and Bryce (6 months). He was a graduate of Parma Senior High School where he ran track, held many track records, and competed in the state championships. Robert proudly served his country in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He worked for Ohio Bell, Lucent Technologies, and AT&T for over 30 years. His most beloved job came after retirement when he drove a bus for over 10 years for the Highland Local School District transporting students with special needs. After his second retirement, he enjoyed fixing anything in his workshop, and assembling and repairing golf clubs for his friends. He also enjoyed his golf outings with his lifelong friends from the Parma School District.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Ellie (nee Montgomery) and sons Matt (Patti) and Mitch (Niki).
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Hazel, and his brother Tom.
Inurnment for Robert will be held at a later date at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. As per Robert’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in Robert’s name to Southwest General Hospice, 18659 Drake Road Strongsville, OH 44136, or to the Medina County Board of Developmental Disabilities, 4691 Windfall Road Medina, OH 44256. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256.
