STEVEN MALLINAK

Steven Mallinak, 65, of Garrettsville, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021. He was born December 9, 1955, in Barberton to the late George and Margaret (Hydu) Mallinak.

He graduated from Barberton High School, where he played football. Steve went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with an associate degree in 1977. He married his wife, Missie, October 20th, 1979, at Virginia Kendall Overlook. Steve worked as a Lumber Broker/Inspector and was self-employed. He was active in the Boy Scouts for most of his life and was honored to be an Eagle Scout. Additional accomplishments were belonging to the Order of the Arrow, and he was a Wood Badge recipient. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing, backpacking, camping, and traveling. He especially loved spending time with family and friends, having monster campfires and roasting marshmallows with his grandchildren, spending time with his dog, Shadow, and working with wood; he relished educating his two daughters, Laura and Daphne, about the different kinds of wood.

Steve will be deeply missed by his wife, Karyne "Missie" (Warner), with whom he was blessed to share 41 years of marriage; beloved daughters, Laura (Andrew) Sitosky and Daphne Mallinak; adored grandchildren, Evan, Isabella, and Ava Marie Grace Carloni, and Landon Sitosky; sister Barbara (Ken) Szuchs, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, George Mallinak, Jr.

The family would like to invite friends to honor Steve's life for a Visitation Friday, September 17, 2021, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH, 44231. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Park Cemetery, Center St. & Brosius Rd., Garrettsville, OH, 44231.
