THELMA D. HALL

April 23, 1914 — September 11, 2013

Thelma D. (Riggar) Hall, age 99, entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus. She has rejoined her beloved husband, Earl. She was born April 23, 1914 in Fayette Co., PA the daughter of Thomas and Mary Lucinda Riggar. She was a resident of that area for 73 years, before moving to Garrettsville in 1987. In 1933 she married the “love of her life”, Earl Hall. They shared 67 blissful years of marriage prior to his death in 2001.

They were blessed with three sons. Surviving are Wayne (Phyllis) and Sheldon, both of Garrettsville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Leonard, daughters-in-law, Norma and Delores, two brothers and two sisters.

Thelma, lovingly known as “Grandma Gum”, was a cherished grandma to eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren, all surviving. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, the needs of her family always came first.

She was involved in every aspect of their lives, giving unselfishly of herself. Thru the years, her family members have enjoyed the delectable delights that she so much enjoyed preparing for all. However, the nourishment she provided for their hearts and minds through stories about their family heritage and God’s faithfulness to her will always remain with them. We will miss hearing her sing her beloved hymns and recite her poetry, but most of all, we will miss her sweet smile that brightened our lives and remained constant until the end.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231 where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM with Rev. Elmer B. Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Park Cemetery, Garrettsville.

A special “thank you” to the staff at the Woodlands for their loving care, especially nurse, Molly. Also heartfelt thanks to Karen Norman, a faithful and loyal friend for the past 20 years.
