Theodore “Ted” Joseph Skala, age 75, formerly of Johnstown, PA passed away April 24, 2011.

Dearly beloved husband of Elizabeth I. (nee Killinger) Skala formerly of Revloc, PA. Devoted Son of Frank and Elizabeth (nee Wozny) Skala (both deceased) Cambria City, PA. Ted is survived by his Loving son, Kenneth Lee and daughter-in-law, Nancy (nee Ohm); of Valley City, OH and his Loving daughter Michelle Marie Rose of Lakewood, OH. Cherished grandfather of Kenneth Theodore, Kristopher Lee, Danielle Elizabeth, and Matthew Joseph Skala of Valley City, OH; brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Virginia Skala of FL; sister and brother-in-law Laura and Michael Pavlik of OH; brother and sister-in-law Casimir and Julie Skala of NJ; sister and brother-in-law Genevieve and Ed Krupa of PA; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws Katheryn and Charles Nagle of PA; Dorothy and Charles Squashic of PA; Jean Novak of PA; Joe Hovan of OH; Patty Walker of OH; Dearest Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews; Godchildren Kimberly Charney of PA; Mark Krupa of PA; Kenneth Theodore Skala of OH; Sponsored Con Novak Jr. of PA for Confirmation.

He was preceded in death by his brothers John and Joseph G. Skala of PA; sister-in-law Irene (nee Killinger) Hovan of OH; and brother-in-law Con Novak Sr. of PA.

As a youth, Ted was a member of St. Casimir Church in Cambria City, where he served as an Altar Boy. As a young adult, he excelled in Horseshoes and baseball. In his youth Ted became champion of the horse shoe league in Johnstown, PA. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He enjoyed gardening, sports, (Steelers football) and dedicated himself to his family while also working as a Metallurgical Analyst at LTV Steel (aka Republic) for 40 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either Saint Ambrose Parish 929 Pearl Road Brunswick, OH 44212 or The Hollidaysburg Veterans Home P.O. Box 319 Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. Friends may join the family for visitation at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home 710 Broad Street Johnstown, PA on Saturday April 30 at 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. followed by a memorial service.
