VELMA I. DAVIS

April 30, 1926 — April 13, 2010

Velma I. Davis, 83, a Windham resident for 66 years, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She was born April 30, 1926 in South Wales and was formerly a Nutrition Educator at the Co-Op Extension Office at the Ravenna Branch of Ohio State University.

Velma was a 65 year-member of the Windham United Methodist Church, and a former election poll worker. She was active in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies, the PTA, 4-H, the Windham Food Bank, and cherished spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed genealogy and keeping in touch with relatives overseas.

Velma is survived by her sons, John M. (Rose) Davis of California and Bryan (Barbara) Davis of Windham; daughters, Bronwen (Damon) Christian of Alabama, Beryl Paugh of Braceville and Barbara J. Davis of Aurora; grandchildren, Perry Paugh of Bedford, Melissa (Bill) Bice of KY, Jeremy Paugh of Windham, Alden Christian of AL, Amber (Jason) Alexander of AL and Gwenyth (Mike) Pananen of Delaware, OH; and great-grandchildren, Kelsey Anderson, Bryce Anderson and Hayden Pananen.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Evan M. and Florence (Hillier) Phillips; husband, John W. who passed away in 1990; and a sister, Eirlys Megan Morgan, and grandson, Matthew.

Calling hours are 6-8 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2010 and Friday 10-11 AM at the Windham Methodist Church, 9051 North Main St., Windham, Oh. 44288, where funeral services will be at 11 AM on Friday, with Rev. Jim Jensen officiating. Committal services will follow at the Windham Twp. Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Windham United Methodist Church.
