William E. Horton, age 78, of Medina passed away August 23, 2012 at his home after a long illness. He was born on February 8, 1934 in Braintree, MA.
Bill graduated from Braintree High School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in chemical engineering. After college he moved to Akron, OH to work for B F Goodrich Chemical Company, retiring after 35 years of service. In retirement Bill enjoyed traveling, gardening, volunteering and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Donna (nee Henkel), sons Stephen (Martha) of Avon, OH, David (Karen), Thomas (Judy), William J. (Claudia), James (Carri) all of Medina, and Ronald (Alexa) of Newbury, OH. He also leaves behind a sister Marion (Richard) Gebhardt, several nieces and nephews and his beloved grandchildren Sarah, Jeffrey, Cassandra, Andrew, Drew, Kyle, Laura, Madelyn, Nicholas, and Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Florence (nee MacGillivray), and his sister Susan Dewhirst.
Family invites friends for Visitation on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM. at Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd. (corner of River Styx and Rt.l8) Medina, Ohio. 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial will follow 1 hour prior visitation at Holy Martyrs Church 3100 South Weymouth Road Medina on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Final Resting place will be private for the family in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Holy Martyrs Ministry of Assistance, 3100 S Weymouth Rd., Medina, OH 44256, or to Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Rd., Medina, OH 44256.
