Arnold “Arnie” Brom, Jr., 71, of Greenville, PA, formerly of Southington, OH, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024, in Mercer, PA. He was born January 10, 1953, in Ravenna, OH, to the late Arnold and Helen (Chizmar) Brom, Sr.

He was a graduate of James A. Garfield High School, belonging to the class of 1971. Arnie spent 28 years at Dillen Products in Middlefield, OH, as a supervisor of their shipping and receiving department. He enjoyed watching all Cleveland sports and always rooted for the Browns, Guardians, and Cavaliers. Arnie was an avid, self-taught bass player, who began playing at 18 years of age. He played in numerous bands, on countless stages, and many bars throughout his musical career. Some of the bands Arnie enjoyed playing with were The Velvet Band, After Midnight, Four Lane Highway, Midnight County, and Brian Shaw and Showdown. Some of his former bandmates were Don and Deb Scott, Bobby Morrell, Brian Shaw, Kenny Simpson, Bill Baker, Mike Sayers, Johnny Ce, and Ted Graves. Arnie was proud to have played Ponderosa State Park, opening for Eddie Rabbit, as well as many other famous musicians. He enjoyed bowling, going to casinos, watching wrestling, and above all, spending time with his family.

Arnie will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Candy (Shriner) Britton-Brom, who was blessed to share over 42 years of marriage; children, Arnold (Jami) Brom, III, of Warren, OH, Matthew (Lisa) Brom, of Girard, OH, Tracy (Todd) Hogue, of Hermitage, PA, and Amy (David) Young, of Pierpont, OH; grandchildren; Noah Uhrin and Dylan Uhrin, of Hermitage, PA, Rylee Young and Hannah Young, of Pierpont, OH, Isabella (Logan) Brom, of W. Middlesex, PA, Natalie Brom and Mikaela Brom, of Howland, OH, and Benson Brom, of Girard, OH; brother, Stephen (Candy) Brom, of Gilmer, TX, as well as many nephews, nieces, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Bernice Brom Rendessy and Marianne Brom.

Per Arnie’s wishes, he is to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, June 30, 2024, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., at USW Union Hall, 113 Broadway Ave., Wheatland, PA 16161. Arnie will be inurned Monday, July 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Park Cemetery, Center St. & Brosius Rd., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Care for Arnie was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
