Audrey Francis Ebling nee Kovacic, at 94, passed on from this world on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Audrey left us peacefully, having spent her final moments resting comfortably surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her family trusts that Audrey is safe and at peace in God’s care, and joyfully reunited with her family and husband in His kingdom.
Audrey was born in Cleveland OH to Frank Kovacic and Veronica Wagner Gustin on July 9, 1929. She was the eldest of three children and lived in Ohio with her sister Beverly Anne Kovacic and brother Frank Anthony Kovacic. Audrey was raised as a member of the Roman Catholic faith and was a devoted and loving follower of God throughout her entire life.
As a young woman, Audrey was swimming in Lake Erie and began drowning, when a man sunbathing on a nearby shore came to her aid. Her rescuer, Edward William Ebling, would become her husband of 55 years, and the father of her 8 children. She spent her life as a homemaker, tending faithfully to her large and ever-growing family with a gentle diligence and kind sense of humor that will be remembered by all who flourished under her care.
Audrey’s memory will be cherished by her children; Russell Ebling (Dorothy), Edward Ebling (Rita), Henry Ebling, Jennifer Daubenspeck, Jeanne Wysocki (James), Joan Fernandez (Joseph), Daniel Ebling, and Benjamin Ebling (Kandie). Audrey’s greatest legacy is the family she nurtured, and she is survived by 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a great many cousins, nieces and nephews, and close family friends.
Audrey had a love of canasta that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She took pleasure in her daily word puzzles and spent many hours admiring the birds who came to enjoy one of her many bird feeders. Audrey was happiest when the seats in her home were filled by her family, and spent her days surrounded by love and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, as well as her husband and partner in life, Edward Ebling. They have welcomed her into her next great adventure, and her family is comforted in the knowledge that they will one day be reunited beyond the gates of Heaven.
