Francisco Colón, born to Martin and Vicenta Colón August 1928 in Puerto Rico. Francisco was an avid reader, a proud self-taught man and a lover of music and the arts as shown by his extensive collection of musical instruments, movies, and books. In his early adult life, Francisco dreamed of becoming a world-class tenor and practiced tirelessly until he was called to serve his country in the Korean War. Francisco came to the US as a young man where he married Carmen Dolores. Together, they raised their children in New York City before moving back to Puerto Rico where they'd planned to spend their retirement years. Francisco moved back to the States shortly after his wife passed away in 1994 and settled in Ohio to be near his family. A decorated soldier from the Puerto Rican infantry known as the 'Borinqueneers', Francisco received various medals and accolades from the U.S. Senate and other high-ranking military officials.
He is survived by his children, his sister, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and an endless list of friends and neighbors who admired and loved him greatly.
