KOREY T. GANNON

July 11, 1975 — January 25, 2024

Medina

Korey Thomas Gannon, 48, of Medina passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 25, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his parents Dale Gannon and Joy Gannon (nee Kirkpatrick).

Korey graduated from Strongsville High School in 1993 and transitioned his love of landscaping into a career at Stanley Black & Decker (formerly MTD Products) as the Test Operations Manager for the company’s new field products. Korey’s hardworking nature extended to a second gig at “The Q” setting up the many shows and sporting events the Cleveland area has grown to love. His patience and ability to problem solve are invaluable traits that will be missed by the teams he led over the last 25 years.

Korey had a passion for making life fun. His charismatic, kind and genuine demeanor put everyone around him at ease. Ever the life of the party, he showed up at every gathering armed with a good joke and his contagious laugh. Korey was fun, but he was also a friend that could be counted on. Often first in line to help, he’d jump into any task without being asked if it meant he could make someone else’s experience better. Friends and family will remember him for not only bringing levity to their lives but for also being the kind of person who could be relied upon when the going got tough.

One of Korey’s greatest passions was watching his boys, Dylan (18) and Brody (15) play soccer. A consistent fixture on the sidelines as a team manager and number one fan, Korey traveled the States for their games and tournaments. He will be sorely missed by the players and supporters alike.

Korey is survived by his wife, Gwen (Lange) Gannon; his two sons, Dylan and Brody Gannon; brothers, Kevin and Keith Gannon; Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Korey was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2023 and fought hard against this relentless disease until the very end. The instant support that poured in upon his passing is a further testament to the positive impact he had on so many people. You can honor his legacy by contributing to ALS research to advance the search for a cure to this rare and brutal disease.
