LEONARD THOMAS BOUMAN

BRUNSWICK

Leonard Thomas Bouman,79, of Brunswick passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Mary (Berlo) and his son-in-law Richard Anthony Owens. He was born March 25, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert and Genevieve Bouman.

Len graduated from Brunswick High School in 1962 and proudly served four years in the U.S. Navy and eleven years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, including active duty during Desert Storm.  Leonard retired from the Brunswick Police Department after 37 years of service.  He was a member of the Brunswick VFW Post 9520 and Brunswick FOP Lodge 15.  

Len had a passion for playing and watching baseball and was especially excited to watch his grandchildren play. Leonard was an avid hunter. He earned his black belt in Taekwondo and enjoyed bowling. He was inducted into the Brunswick High School Hall of Fame for his community service.  Leonard may have been best known for his joke telling ability, whether the jokes were good or bad.

Leonard loved his daughters, grandchildren and family and will be dearly missed by them all.

Leonard is survived by his three daughters, Barbara (John) Bowers of Creston, Jill (Matt) Cipullo of Lodi,   and Kristen Owens of Medina; grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) Watson, Catherine Griffith, Luke (Breanna) Cipullo, Reilly (Lisa) Cipullo, Jennifer (Rocky) Campana and Julie (Bill) Spoonster; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Patsy) Bouman, Richard (Mary) Bouman and Bernard (Nancy) Bouman and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.   

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Rd. Brunswick, Ohio from 4pm to 8pm.  A burial and military honors will take place on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 1:15pm at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, please donate in Leonard’s name to the Cleveland Clinic Hospice, 6801 Brecksville Rd. #10, Cleveland, Ohio 44131.   Please visit www.carlsonfuneralhome.com to sign the online guestbook.
