LEWIS ALBERT SHOWALTER JR

Lewis Albert Showalter Jr., 89, passed away at his home on Thursday July 20,2023 with family by his side. He was born October 12, 1933 in Salem, Ohio to Lewis A. Showalter Sr. and Myrtle (Vincent) Showalter.

He was a High School graduate of Hiram, Ohio and a Kent State University graduate with a degree in Application Engineering. Lew was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as an engineer for Samuel Moore, Mantua until he retired there in 1997, all while working full time as owner/operator of Rocky Meadow Farm, Windham. Lew loved to travel and he traveled to many places for work and on cruises vacationing with his wife; snorkeling, dining and enjoying the sights. He loved vacationing with family at his cottage on Chautauqua Lake, boating, skiing and fishing (and eating cheese). Lew enjoyed a tradition of cocoa and toast with the older grandchildren and shared his special “soda pop” with the younger ones, especially when they weren’t feeling well. His passion was woodworking and of course farming, but most of all he loved being with family and spending time with his dog(s).

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife M. Patricia (Wright) Showalter, brother Glenn Showalter, sister Shirley Owens, son-in-law Richard (Rick) Fabry and granddaughter Ashley Fabry.

Lew will be deeply missed by his loving wife Sue (Collins) Showalter; children, Patricia Fabry, Michael (Charity) Showalter, Barb Showalter, Charles Showalter; grandchildren; Shawnie (Russ) Diehl, Jacklyn (Shelly) Zeigler, Michael P.L. Showalter, Victoria Showalter, Holly Showalter, Gabbi Showalter, and Charli Showalter; great-grandchildren, Andrew Gary, Landon & Carter Showalter, Ryan Zeigler, Stacy, Laynee, & Reece Diehl, Colton Showalter, Dylan & Dakota, as well as a great-great grandchild on the way.

Please join the family for a visitation on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. with the funeral service to follow promptly at 11:30 A.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 8382 Center St. Garrettsville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Windham Township Cemetery.
