Orbra Richmond Puckett Jr. Aka Richard “Buzz”, 89 of Rocky River passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024. He was born September 19, 1934, in Pudca, Kentucky to the late Orbra Richmond Puckett Sr., and Ruby M. Puckett (nee Cissell).
Richard proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1953-1957 as a 2nd class Petty Officer during the Korean Conflict, then two years in the 9th district, and finally two years in the 14th district in Hawaii covering areas between Midway and Japan. Richard contributed to The Apollo Space Race by hauling truckloads of scaffolding to the launch towers at Cape Canaveral Kennedy Space Center. After 39 years as a truck salesman, Richard retired from International Harvester. Richards greatest passion was roller skating, which he taught professionally for 43 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannine C. Puckett (nee MacDonald) and second wife, Donna J. Puckett; sons, David C. Puckett and Tommy R. Puckett.
Richard is survived by his son Stephen J. Puckett, member of Lakewood Lodge #601 Free & Accepted Masons. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Danielle and great grandchildren, Camoran and Lillianna.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 12:15pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd. Seville, Ohio 44273. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the family care of Stephen Puckett, PO Box 78 Chippewa Lake Ohio 44215. Care for Richard was entrusted to Carlson Funeral Home in Medina, OH.
