Richard Medlen Jr. passed away peacefully on July 28th, rocking out to classic rock, surrounded by his loving family listening to them reminisce his tall tales and shit talking.
Richard was a proud veteran of the USMC, and retired construction worker, who loved wood working, enjoying the sunshine, and taking pride in his collection of items that "might come in handy one day".
Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Deborah Lewis Medlen. Rich and Debbie shared 18 years of spoiling grandchildren, adopting every animal that crossed their paths, and driving their children crazy, while providing a chaotic, loud, sometimes maddening, yet always entertaining home filled with warmth, music and love, to everyone they met.
The surviving children of that wonderful madness are Kimberly (Glen) Dillard, Lisa (Chris) Medlen, Melissa (Joe) Vecchio, Carlee Lewis, and Richard (Tyffany) Medlen. Rich also leaves behind a crap load of grandchildren that will love and miss him terribly, while forever thinking that every bridge, road, and highway were built by their grandfather.
Richard is also survived by siblings, Anna May Medlen, Kathy (Howard) Kilgore, Jackie (Dean) Hoffmann, and Thomas Medlen. He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Shirley (Hall) Medlen, and brother David Medlen.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and to at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212.
